One Last Strike

“So many times since that evening I’ve been asked to sum up my thoughts on the 2011 Cardinals’ remarkable year, the end of my career, and that final victory.”  Fifty years in baseball, ten and a half games back, and one final championship season.  One Last Strike by Tony La Russa with Rick Hummel takes you inside the head of future Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa and behind the scenes of what happened in the clubhouse.

The book talks about La Russa’s career and how the Cardinals won and interesting stories of Hall of Fame players.  It also tells you how he ended up in St. Louis and how he earned the player’s respect.

I had a lot of favorite parts and made a lot of connections because it kept me interested the entire time, but I really enjoyed the stories of past and present players with the White Sox, A’s, and Cardinals.  I also enjoyed how the book told you about what went on in the clubhouse and how the players were motivated the entire time.

Even if you aren’t interested in sports I think you would truly enjoy this  book.  It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read and hopefully will be one of the best you will ever read.
